Different soil, water and biodiversity conservation works on 58 hectare of land was accomplished and during the intervention the community was actively participated:
* An estimated of 20km counter stone bund terracing and 7.8kms of stone faced soil bund structures were constructed on degraded mountains & farm lands prepared for this purpose respectively;
* 1,848m3 of check dam and 3,470 number of water harvesting structure called trenches were constructed along the contours in a staggered position of protected areas to prevent soil & water loses during rainy season.
A community owned nursery sit was established on 2,168m2 size of land and under this compartment a total amount of 38,261 agro forestry and forage seedlings were raised and planted on degraded tract of land to reduce the negative impact arise on existing forest resource & increase carbon sink;
1.35kms of rectangular and trapezoidinal irrigation canal was constructed to improve the efficiency of the existing irrigation schemes;
18,615 fruit tree seedlings were able to be raised and hence distributed to each member of the CBO for their own consumption as well as to improve their income
A total of 35 apple seedlings were purchased and distributed to 7 selected farmers to diversify their income by selling the product;
120m3 of compost was prepared and added on the farm land under the reporting period to improve the fertility of the soil so as to enhance crop production;
Significant sets of hand tools were procured & distributed to the local community to avoid any material constraint to perform soil & water conservation and nursery seedling raising activities per the scheduled time frame;
Training and awareness creation program was provided for more than 61 community members on various local & global environmental issues to enhance their knowledge on the wise and appropriate use of natural resources
11 staff of the CBO, DA?s and administration bodies of the rural kebele administration was able to be participated on capacity building program in order to effectively coordinate the project intervention activities
6 selected CBO staff members, one EPA expert and one local DA was undertook community travel workshop to Oromiya Regional State Sendafa Wereda Abdiboru community Based Organization where environmental conservation and rehabilitation works were under implementation
In order to reduce the burden on forest resource and improve access to fuel wood, a total of 100 fuel efficient stoves were prepared and distributed to 100 selected women and female headed households.
Over the reporting period of the project, more than 286 members of the beneficiary groups (Women 62, Children 91 and Men 133) were participated on the implementation of this project.
