Establishment of native plants nursery in Araya area
I. OBJECTIVES
The Project aims at establishing a pilot plant nursery in order to support small scale farmers in working their neglected farms.
II. ACTIVITIES
? Establishment of Agricultural extension programme based on innovative technologies. This program will be managed by an expert in agriculture.
? Land rehabilitation
? Installation of proper equipment (green house)
? Seedlings production (for 4 species suitable for local processing)
? Plantation of shrubs in forests and on small farms
1. Prepare a plan for lands that need rehabilitation for plantation in coordination the land owners
? Collection of preliminary data for lands that would be used for agricultural purposes based on the results
? Organization of a workshop for farmers on proper usage of agricultural
2. Prepare a plan of action for planting in the nursery and agricultural land
? Rehabilitation and preparation of 2000 square meter of land for the plant nursery
? Establishment of 200 square meter of green house for seedlings production
? Rehabilitating neglected agricultural land (25000 square meters for 50 farmers) in the area for planting them.
