Projeto Veredas: Plantando água colhendo Vida
This project is aimed at conservation and recovery of Girau river headwaters, in the municipality of Varzelândia, in northern Minas Gerais. The region, which is in a transition between Cerrado and Caatinga, currently lacks in supply of water due to pollution of rivers resulting from deforestation of riparian woods and presence of extensive eucalyptus crops. 200 small dams will be built by the project for containment of rainwater, in addition to transmission to small farmers of concepts of agroecology as a form of contribution to minimize damages caused by environmental degradation.
