Aquatic Biodiversity and Farmland Enhancement Project
The project is to enhance livelihood security for the rural poor families in Suntuk and Baray districts of Kampong Thom Province whose futures are dependent upon the sustainable management of community natural resources by means of enhancing aquatic environments and integration of sustainable agriculture principles. The specific objectives are (i) to increase the overall population of aquatic resources in both farmers? fields and community pond in the target districts in Kampong Thom Provinces and (ii) to enhance ecological/organic agriculture productivity of local communities and promote agricultural market to ensure food security and to increase income. The project will work directly with 2 communities (60 farmers-35% women) on aquatic resources enhancement in farmland. 100 Shallow Community Aquatic Resources Enhancement (CARE) ring and 10 depth CARE ring for conservation will be installed in farmers' field. Training on aquatic enhancement and monitoring process will be carried out to increase farmers' knowledge and monitor outputs and outcomes.
