Promotion of biogas as an alternative source of energy in Karatu District
Promotion of biogas as an alternative source of energy in Karatu District
This project aims at promoting biogas technologies to replace three-stone cook stoves. The project intends to promote the fixed dome type of biogas plant because of its stability against fluctuating temperatures unlike the plastic bay type, which is vulnerable to temperature changes. The NGO in partnership with a Danish NGO called Eco-Net is already promoting the fixed dome biogas plants. Therefore, the support, which is sought under this project, will upscale biogas activities to three villages of Slahhamo, Kambi ya Simba and Upper Kitete. The project main objective is to promote biogas as an alternative source of energy in the rural areas of Karatu District with the view to reducing the rate of deforestation and addressing the problem of in indoor pollution.
