CONSERVEUGANDA Opeta Wetlands project promotes conservation and sustainable utilization of wetlands and IBAs surrounding Lakes Opeta and Bisina that: habour rare, vulnerable and endangered plant and animal species important for maintaining the biological diversity of the region; support bird and animal species at critical stages in their life cycles; support species of indigenous Cichlid fishes including endemic Haplochromines and others on which fish stocks within the wetlands depend.
