Tree Planting Activities in Ghona Village
Ghona village is situated in the lowland area of Kilimanjaro. The areas has been deforestatated due to charcoal burning and burning of bricks for building a newly established settlement.The soko spring which produces water for about 800 families downstream is located in this village. The communities were not well informed on environmental conservation issues as well as tree planting. The main objective of this project is to improve community livelihood through environmental related developments such as tree planting in open space and in schools in Ghona Village.
The projec is also intending to provide training and seminar on environmental conservation issues including establishment of tree nurseries.

All the areas in Ghona village being planted trees which will be tended and managed to grow sustainably by each household,one primary schools and three secondary schools within the village.
