PERD ENERGY & CLIMATE CHANGE
The project is to promote and disseminate improved institutional woodstoves and growing of woodlots with a view to contributing to biodiversity conservation and mitigation of climate change efforts in Uganda.
To achieve the primary goal, the project will have the following specific objectives:
i) to build local capacity through training of schools communities on practical skills regarding management of woodlots and energy conservation using improved stoves
ii) to disseminate energy-saving stoves to schools designed to reduce fuelwood consumption by a approximately 50 ?70%.
iii) to facilitate the establishment of woodlots as alternative and sustainable sources of fuelwood for schools, hence reduce the harvesting of fuelwood from Forests and other important biodiversity areas
iv) to design and administer a revolving fund credit scheme that supports and facilitates adoption of energy-saving stoves in the most cost-effective and sustainable manner v) to create awareness of renewable and alternative energy technologies in schools and surrounding communities
