Conservation of Ngono River Basin through agro-forestry and land management
The project is designed to address very serious and pressing environmental problems that are faced by the community in Ikondo ward. The need assessment was conducted in partnership with community representatives in Ikondo ward the following issues were identified - (1) Poor farming methods leading to soil erosion (2) Uncontrolled bush fire that destroy vegetation cover and general ecology (3) Cultivation along the Ngono river banks (4) destruction of wetlands,(5) excessive tree cutting (6) lack of reliable sources of tree seedlings (7) supply for trees planting and inadequate awareness of community members.
