Project Characteristics and Results
Planning gef grant
Based on the results of the planning study, the project will be scaled up to a USD 38,500 grant for construction of an Eco-Tourism Center for the Disabled Community of Nanyuki, Kenya. A business feasibility study and designs for the structure were completed as part of the planning grant.
Emphasis on Sustainable Livelihoods
Many individuals within the disabled community in Nanyuki town rely on the sale of non-renewable forest resources such as firewood and charcoal for income. This project will create alternative and sustainable income generating activities by promoting eco-friendly tourism.
