Sustainable environment enrichment, livelihood enhancement through conservation, cultivation, marketing of medicinal plants, and capacity building of poor communities in 17 villages near forest areas in Barkote block of Deogarh district in Orissa
Project aims at conservation of biodiversity in the project area, through protection and conservation of medicinal plants and trees with active community participation. Project ouput includes enhancement in livelihood through marketing of medicinal plants produce, Sustainable enrichment of environment and enhancement of livelihood through intensive participation, capacity building and empowerment of the communities in all the activities.Poor families in villages near the forestswould be the beneficiaries whose members undertake collection of medicinal plants from the forest.
Marginal farmers will be encouraged and supported to undertake cultivation of medicinal plants.
Project also involves building the capacity of the beneficiaries which will ensure increased livelihood as well as conservation of the biodiversity.
