Promote Conservation practices in forest areas through Bamboo Workers Cooperative Development
The projects aims at creating a replicable model for reducing deforestation in North ?East region of India through promotion of sustainable bamboo based livelihoods amongst marginalized communities.
Promoting sustained industrial use of bamboo will reduce timber usage and would help communities all over the region and also other parts of the world where this project could be replicated. This will lead to a decrease in global warming also.
Project also aims at increasing the income levels of the artisans by providing regular and sustainable employment and thereby improving the standard of living.
Since bamboo is available all over the North Eastern region of India the project has good scope of replication in all communities having basic bamboo skills in this region.
