POIKAI- Scaling up of the use of environment friendly energy efficiency measures for mitigation of carbon dioxide in the tribal forest regions of South India
Project aims at Carbon mitigation at the micro level with the aim to improve the environment and health of rural women particularly in remote villages with limited livelihood opportunities.
Major activities of the project involves installation of smokeless chulahs, solar street lights and solar lantern in the project area., advocacy campaigns, training community etc.
This would reduce the firewood consumption and the resulting carbon emission also resulting in less felling of trees resulting in an improvement in the green cover.
