Promotion of Sustainable Management of NTFPs for Livelihood Energy Efficiency and Income Generation of Tribal Communities in the Central Western Ghats of Karnataka
Goal of the Project:
The proposed project envisages to achieve the following:
? Development of appropriate sustainable harvesting strategy for the some of the important NTFP?s collected in the region.
? Development of eco-friendly processing technology.
? Development of value addition to the collected NTFP?s.
Objectives:
The project has set the following objectives:
? Promotion of sustainable production and use of NTFPs with participation of tribal communities.
? To improve the Income among the forest dependents without affecting to the Natural resources.
? To make utilize the energy efficient techniques in the NTFP treatment process.
Project Outputs:
The project would achieve the following outputs:
? Reduction in use of fuel wood.
? Sustainable utilization of NTFPs and
? Higher income generation to tribal community.
Project Beneficiaries:
Mainly tribal communities in the region and LAMP Co-operative Society.
Global Environment Impact:
Reduction in consumption of firewood reduces the pressure of Deforestation.
