Inovative Financial Mechanisms
Bicycles projects are considered one of the projects? types that illustrate the successful revolving fund mechanism and thus the sustainability of the project. This project has targeted the university students that cannot afford using the public transportation every day to reach their college. By the end of the project duration, the project succeeded in distributing 450 bicycles (250 bicycles directly from the SGP grant and 200 additional from through the long-term loan and the revolving fund mechanism). This mechanism not only lessens the economic burden, but also increases the number of beneficiaries and ensures the sustainability of the project even after using the SGP grant amount.
Capacity - Building Component
The NGO organized 7 awareness raising seminars focusing on several environmental issues, and specifically climate change and sustainable transport. 2 bicycles competitions were organized for the beneficiaries (students) to promote the idea for the local community.
