PROJECT DEVELOPMENT GOAL:
Creating sustainable coral reef ecosystem management to enable the sea resources for rehabilitation, protection, and management in order to increase community welfare and to reduce poverty in Belitung Island, especially in Tanjung Binga Village, Sijuk Subdistrict, Belitung District.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES:
1. Increasing community awareness regarding important means and threats faced by coral reef ecosystem.
2. Improving the quality of coral reef in terms of variety and range of fresh coral
3. Empowering local community and related parties through participatory education and training in order to implement effective and sustainable coral reef management
4. Improving living standard of Tanjung Binga coastal community.
5. Building environmentally friendly and sustainable working network, management, and utilization business of coral reef ecosystem with fishers in Les, Bali.

EXPECTED OUTPUT:
1. Manage coral reef resources in integral and sustainable method to avoid any damages, wasting resources, and diminishing coral reef resources
2. Increasing amount of coral reef range and varieties.
3. Increasing living standard of community by having productive business activities
4. Existing coral reefs cultivation centre that act as research centre and environmentally friendly nature eco-tourism

ACTIVITIES TO BE CONDUCTED:
I. Social Preparation
This will include consolidation of NGO-Kelompok Peduli Lingkungan Belitung as both a facilitator of the people?s organization community, and as the main beneficiary and actor of the project
II. Coral Reef Restoration
1. Mapping of Habitat.
2. Coral Farming.
3. Monitoring of Coral Reef Ecosystem.
4. Policy Work to strengthen the recognition of the management system.
III. Sustainable Fishery
Designation and establishment of a fishing zone will follow the spread of non-cyanide fishing techniques. The village will set the Maximum Sustainable Yield (MSY) of the zone.
1. A comprehensive study of local ecology and stock assessment. This will gather a one-year data of fish catch. Analysis of that information will result the MSY of the fishing zone.
2. Promotion of environmentally friendly fishing technique. This will include training to make fishing equipment (net and decompression basin), production and distribution of the equipment through the revolving fund scheme, implementation on the field, and legal recognition of the technique by relevant government agencies. Promotion of the technique will go along with the agreement of the MSY and fishing zone.
