Management Audit for Mida Creek and Arabuko Sokoke Conservation and Educational Project
A Rocha Kenya has therefore submitted a full proposal to UNDP/GEF Small Grants Programme to address these issues through a three-pronged strategy:
? Improve, expand and better market the eco-tourism facilities at Mida Creek
? Build capacity of local conservation groups that benefit from the eco-tourism and are seeking to contribute to the conservation of the forest and creek together with the capacity of ASSETS to administer the scheme effectively.
? Introduce and implement alternative technologies linked to conservation action, including Conservation Agriculture, with the forest and creek adjacent communities so as to raise their quality of life and conserve biodiversity.
Management Audit
In order for this project to succeed it is imperative that A Rocha Kenya is fully capable of handling funds to this level and executing the project successfully. To this end a management audit is required to assess the capacity A Rocha Kenya has and to identify where systems need to be implemented or adapted so as to maximise the effectiveness of the main project outlined above.
No co-financing was sought from the applicant because this is a planning grant.
