Development of Alternative fuel through biodegradable waste (JANA-DEEP i.e., White Coal) to ensure respectable livelihood for waste Collectors of Latur City.
The goal of the project is to develop alternate fuel so as to reduce use of fuel wood through proper scientific disposal of waste so that to provide respectable livelihood to people who are deprived of basic needs. The projects aims towards
? Self-employment generation for waste collectors through municipal waste.
? Development of alternate fuel through scientific disposal of municipal waste.
? Reduction in use of fuel wood for both domestic as well as Industry purpose.
? Solution on Employment, Energy, Economics, Environment problem through effective solid waste management.
At the end of the project expects to
? Generate employment for about 600 waste collectors
? Establish biodegradable waste based briquette making plant (15 tons of briquettes will be produced per day which will fetch Rs. 48,000/- per day at a rate of Rs 3,200 /-per ton)
? Develop alternate fuel source for industrial applications
? Reduce disposal in solid waste at dumping site by 15 tonnes per day
Major activities of the project includes capacity building and awareness programme of community members and field workers (which includes actual waste collectors and briquette machine operators)

Groups of Scheduled caste women were encouraged by the community and they participated actively in all the training programs and meetings.
Policy Impact
The focused project is in preliminary stages and it is too early to create impact on above topics. The project has already created awareness among the people and made the people to realize the potential of this project.
