Autumnal/winter fields and pastures irrigation as an adaptive mechanism for efficient use of water resources in Southern Kazakhstan
Planning stage
1.In the framework of scheduled grant it is planned to hold meeting of village residents and workshop in Shakirov village with all project participants for detailed development of all stages of the project, VRA, activities, time frames, executors and budget.
2.Experts for material collection on climate changes on conditions of ?Sharuashylyk? canal; conditions and quality of lands along the canal; pastures conditions and productivity; existing and assumed load on pastures during decrease of aridity and land degradation due to climate change.
3.On planning stage the following experts will be invited: specialist in land-reclamation, specialist in pastures and ecologist.
4.Experts will compile predictive scenarios of aridity in the region and will suggest possible plans for inter irrigation, directed to lower risks caused by land degradation due to climate change. Proposed methods will be used for sustainable development of farming and increase of village resources.
5.In cooperation with the village community the final project proposal will be developed and submitted to GEF/SGP National Coordinator.
6.Evaluation of decrease of vulnerability will be conducted based on the examples of predictive scenarios with consideration of possible changes of pastures productivity due to aridity increase and winter irrigation.
7.Financial sources for planning stage will be GEF/SGP grant and declarants? internal funds
