Adaptation to increased aridity through climate resilient agro-silvo-pastoralism using Sauxal
Planning stage
1. Within the frameworks of the planned grant the data related to degeneration of the saxaul forests and pastures on the TPI will be collected. By means of the comparative analysis the forecast models of the LC development subject to the changing climate conditions will be provided.
2. The data related to the climate change in the Sarkand districk of the Almaty region (fluctuations of temperatures, changes in fall quantities, etc) will be generated.
3. Experts and specialists to draft a scenario reflecting the effect of the increasing dryness and aridity on the stable life of the Mukan Tolebayev villagers will be attracted.
4. A complete CBA project proposal will be drafted and submitted to GEF SGP, as well as recommendations on implementation of methods for the stable development of the local communities of the region: implementation of the pasture season rotation, recovery of the basin haymaking lands, seeding and spread of the saxaul forests.
