- Satellite primary schools for the sites of the Project have been successfully identified and selected with the high collaboration of the Regional Delegate of Basic Education, the Inspector of Basic Education, the Catholic Education Secretary for Catholic Schools and the Lay Private Education Secretary for Lay Private Schools. One school was chosen from each core to make up four satellite schools.
- Terms of Reference (TOR) of various stakeholders were drafted in meetings that brought together Head teachers, teachers, Educational authorities (Inspector of Basic Education and the Catholic Education Secretariat), traditional authorities, Presidents of Parents Teachers Associations of various schools; and the Mayor of the Municipal Council of Buea.
- Environmental Education sessions took place in which 668 pupils were educated and 18 Teachers trained to enhance the teaching process of Environmental Education. Data was collected and eventually led to the production of an education manuel, which was distributed to schools and educational administrative structures in the project zone. Educational Authorities were also serve with the manual in a bid to see the possibility of inserting some aspects in school curriculum.
- A Training of Trainers (TOT) Workshop was organized, in which 18 Teachers were trained on Gardening, tree Nurseries and production of Organic Manure (Compost) for the gardens. A Teachers? Manual on Environmental Education that will be used by teachers of all the classes in these schools to enhance the practical teaching of agriculture and environmental education in the various schools, has been produced; it was printed and handed to teachers and Ministry of Education Officials during the project closing ceremony.
- The mapping of 4 school gardens and tree nurseries (40m x 20m each) was successfully carried out in a particpative manner and maize (from research centre) planted on each plot by pupil as demonstration.
The plot dimension includes the farm (30m x 15m) and tree nursery (10m x 5m) and 4 tree nursery shades constructed. Four functional gardens with a variety of plants nursed and planted.
- Teachers (both trained and untrained by the project) are using the Agricultural Chart provided during the first phase of the project.
- signboards have been constructed and installed on all four satellite primary school plots identified.
