The project is a continuation of the SGP project TUR-05-14, which aimed to demonstrate the uses of solar power by local people in a rural setting. The current project aims to improve the solar powered devices designed in the first project, with a view to improve their user-friendliness and performance of the devices. The project also hopes to create different designs for use in different settings in the area, as well changes in the size and capacity of the devices. The former project had started the local women to produce their traditional products using solar power and selling them, therefore had resulted in an increased income for the households. The second phase project will also help establishing the branding of the products and "Kerkenes" brand which identifies itself by being local, renewable, clean and natural. Part of the projects activities will also be devoted to its business plan, marketting according to existing laws and regulations, the assessment of investment necessary, pricing policy, marketting strategy etc. to make it an economically viable activity.
