Conservation of Whona River Banks and cultural tourism in Marangu, Kilimanjaro
The WEP is and NGO, which has been working on environmental conservation, issues together with the promotion of tourism activities in Marangu Area. The project ha planted a number of trees along the riverbanks where they are operating. Once this NGO receives support from COMPACT will be able to extend it activities to more areas which are suffering soil erosion and land slides every rain season due to lack of trees.

PROJECT OBJECTIVE;
(1) To reduce the destruction of the Mt. Kilimanjaro forest through long ? term integrated tree-planting activities along River Whona.
(2) Integrate Cultural tourism with forest conservation
(3) Protection of river ecosystems.
