Programme Support - UNDP/GEF-SGP Environmental Issues Support in Maputaland (KZN, RSA)
In this project, the Maputaland community radio, which is based in Northern Kwazulu Natal, aims to run 12 months environmental issues programmes together with 4 community outreach programmes involving mostly schools and traditional healers associations as the target audiences. The project entails creating community awareness on various environmental conservation issues through talk shows, documentary, live broadcasting and roadshows. Environmental activist organizations and individuals (experts) will also feature in live programmes and roadshows with the communities actively involved. The project aims to contribute to environmental awareness and sustainability and community development

Capacity - Building Component
The project capacitate the communities through the different discussions of environment and biodiversity conservation, wherein the communities are allowed to call and ask questions .
Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment
The project is located in the area wher there is biodiversity hotspots e.g. Tembe Elephant Park and Ndumo game reserve, as such the awareness is needed to reduce the activities of poaching etc.
