Promoting Renewable Energy Water Pumping Technology and Afforestation
The project aims to enhance livelihoods through diversification of crop production by establishing an irrigation scheme using renewable energy hydrum technology to pump water from the River Thakumi. The project will also supply a reliable source of water to households, schools, and business centers in the community. As part of the projects environmental conservation efforts, trees will be planted along 3 km of degraded riparian areas and in 30 hectares of the Kagochi Forest within the larger Mt. Kenya Forest.
