Land and housing organization of Kargaly village local community for the adaptation for herd horse breeding in the age of climate change
Objective of the Project ? to pilot ecologically, economically, and socially sustainable techniques for preventing negative consequences of climate change in pasture ecosystems used for herd horse breeding in Kargaly village of Korgalzhinsky Rayon, Akmolinska Oblast.
The Planning Grant Phase
1.The project is planning to organize the working seminar in Kargaly village with all the project stakeholders in order to fully determine all the project?s sections, activities, times, implementing parties and budget.
2.The experts will visit the project site to collect the information: to conduct field and botanic evaluation of the territory; land conditions assumed for the erosion, dam conditions, filed road network, etc.
3.During the planning phase experts will be invited: expert in hydrology; economist, planner, botanist.
4.Experts will prepare project of soil and water protection structure of the territory aimed to decrease climate change risks. Introduced methods will provide formation of ecological and economic sustainable land tenure of Kargaly village community.
5.The final and detailed project proposal will be developed jointly with the local community and presented to GEF/SGP.
6.Evaluation of decrease of vulnerability will be conducted based on the examples of predictive scenarios of land degradation with consideration of possible changes of pastures productivity due to aridity increase.
7.Demonstration of adaptive land tenure in akimats and Ministry f agriculture.
The sources of funding for the planning phase will be the GEF/SGP grant and the proposer?s own funds.
