Enhancing Livelihood Options of Small and Marginal Farmers through Development and Management of Ravine Lands .
Objective:
Short Term:
? Reviving the Ravine lands and using it for better productivity;
? Helping village level People?s Institutions manage the developed ravine land and share the benefits;
? Enhancing knowledge and skills of the people; and
? Sharing the experiences for wider dissemination and application.

Long Term:
? Generating revenue from the ravine lands for the village development fund;
? Enhancing ecological balance;
? Reducing Desertification;
? Establishing viable and replicable model for ravine land reclamation on participatory approach; and
? Improving livelihood options of the people.

Output:
Ravine development programme will have direct impact on the agriculture in the adjoining areas. Eroding soil, which is mostly fine sands from the ravine area, is blown into agriculture lands by wind and thereby reducing its fertility and resulting desertification. Control measures would restrain soil fertility in the agriculture fields, reduce deforestation and increase the availability of green fodder. Trenches would hold water during monsoon and increases soil moisture facilitating growth of planted trees.

Activity:
Trenching and bunding
Gully plugs and Gabions
Bori bundh (traditional)
Nursery raising (Local and valuable species)
Training
Tree plantation of local and horti.species
Grass plantation
Mortality Gap filling
Documentation and Dissemination
