Biodiversity Conservation through Community Fisheries
-The project will be support sustainable community-base activities in the 6 communes in Prey Veng province, and that demonstrated and promoting the establishment of community conservation area.
-They will also address the conservation and sustainable use of natural resources mainly fisheries in the area under increasing human pressure on those resources by organizing women saving & self-help groups to create community-based livelihood alternatives .

Project Characteristics and Results
Capacity - Building Component
- The project will conduct a series of training 17 community fisheries committee and women groups in leadership and community fisheries management, book keeping and report writing.
- The community will regularly disseminate information to the villagers to encourage them to protect and sustainable use of natural resources and support community fisheries activities especially the group of women participatoin.
Emphasis on Sustainable Livelihoods
- Through training section of project women will encourage to be leader in the project they can enhance their ability to lead the groups. They have capital to expand their living by working with self-help and saving group.
- 75 members will increase their income and food security from using their saving fund to create other points for their livelihoods.
- self-help groups will increase 65% of their investment capital at the end of the project.
- The project expected that 40ha of flooded forestry and 2 lake conservations will protect from community fisheries and communities will catch more fish for food and additional income.
