Strengthening Community Based Natural Resources and Environmental Management project.
This project is aiming at conservation of 750 ha of sea grass resources inside the UNEP-SCS demonstration sites in Kompot province, Cambodia for increasing fish stock which will help to improve the fish habitat and increase biodiversity in Community Fisheries areas. The project also provides education to communities to appreciate and protect environmental resources which could lead to a decrease or end of illegal fishing. In addition to that the project will empower women in participation and leadership in group management through organizing them 4 saving groups (10-15 women each) to participate in protection and conservation of natural resources and actively take part in other community development activities.
Project Objectives:
i) At the end of 2011, Committee member have ability and capacity in managing and running community by themselves through providing training, awareness raising and study tour etc.
ii) Strengthening the management of natural resources and environment to ensure that community use it sustainability.
iii) Improve community livelihood through organizing saving groups and provide agriculture technical support.
iv) Establish Crap Banks to increase crap productivity in the conservation areas
v) Build strong support and good relationship with technical institute and local authority in managing natural resources and environment of Preak Thnout Community.

Project Outputs:
? 9 committee members have better understanding on the management of administrative and financial management.
? 100 members of community have aware about related law and regulations
? Protection of 750 ha of sea grass by putting 70 concrete pools and 60 artificial shelter Boxes inside the protected areas.
? 80% of committee member have capacity in managing and preparing planning and managing community by themselves.
? Increased fish productivity inside the protected areas through regular patrolling, putting concrete pools and Boxes and crap banks cages.
? At least 80% of community Members have better understanding and actively participated in protection of natural resources.
? 40 women have better understanding about saving group running and managing.
? 40 farmers have been train on integrated agriculture and apply that technology for improving yields.

? Procurement concrete pools and Boxes to put inside sea grass protected area

? Organize dissemination workshop on advantage of crap banks
? Organize public forum with technical institution and local authority on managing and use of Natural resources and environment.

Gender Focus
