The Goal of the project is to conserve and protect the biodiversity of Nyangahya wetland and surrounding environment through appropriate use of natural resources therein while improving livelihoods among the local communities through sustainable agriculture and other income generating activities.

To achieve this, the project will adopt integrated natural resource management approach which involves, having a long term Vision, integration of policies, decisions, and costs, focusing on the wetland and its scale, timing of the IRNM, active stakeholder participation, building capacity, and having a solid foundation of knowledge about the wetland.

The project activities shall include awareness raising and capacity building of selected community groups in the target area to engage in wise conservation, protection and conservation of the wetland. The project shall also facilitate the communities acquire tree seedlings; develop fruit tree nurseries and other important activities. The technical personnel from the district department of environment and the sub counties focal persons will assist in training and advisory services.
