Developing a biodiversity-focused, pro-poor circular tourism route within the Succulent and Hantam Karoo
The Karoo Highlands route will promote the protection and conservation of endangered animals and plant species within the proposed route area whilst providing local communities with an alternative option for sustaining livelihoods. This project links behavior change towards biodiversity with pro-poor tourism and is geared towards the development of a community-owned tourism route that includes;
- the implementation of local biodiversity-centered tourism strategies in symbiosis with conservation plane.
- monitoring and evaluation centred on route-specific flagship species.
