An updated National Wetlands Action Plan will provide a direction for wetlands conservation in the country thus benefitting a majority of local communities. Note that aside from the numerous lakes, rivers and other freshwater bodies in the Philippines, about 70 percent of the municipalities in the country are coastal, which are technically wetlands.
