Improving Land Use and Management on Cikobia Island.
An increase in unsustainable land use practices, such uncontrolled burning and clear felling native trees without efforts for replanting is the major threat around which the project activities are based. This has resulted in gradual decline in food security, crop productivity and manufacture of traditional crafts linked to the natural resource s on the island. As part of protecting and enhancing forest diversity on the island a community nursery will be developed, to raise native tree seedlings and undertake a community reforestation programme.
