Glengoffe Climate Change Adaptation Programme
(No co-financing required for concept)
With the increasing episodes of extreme weather events associated with climate change, there is a likely chance that deforested hillsides will erode tons of soil into the counrty's waterways. These conditions set the stage for more frequent landslides, which will devastate rural infrastructure, ruin farmland and threaten life and property.
With farmers traditionally dependent on the rainy season for planting, the increase in temperatures associated with climate change, will exacerbated the problem the farmers have. This project will therfore seek to implement a comprenhensive sustainable land management programme that will introduce and reinforce skills small farmers need to protect their land and improve their livelihood, while increasing awareness of the effects of climate variability and change and the local level.
