Improved capitalisation of sawdust – one step forward in mitigating the effects of climate change
The project aims at generating sustainable livelihoods for two communities of laid off drillers based on the sustainable use of the natural resources in the area. It includes activities to increase the level of understanding and involve the community members of Iancu Jianu and Lalosu in biodiversity conservation while addressing the local needs for subsistence and helping to alleviate poverty through income generating initiatives. Local community representatives will be trained on community development and application for funding. A community organization will be established to manage the activity of the sawdust briquette-making workshop that will become a source of income, to benefit both workers and users of the briquettes from the two target communities, as well as the woodwork sheds deriving income from sawdust capitalization.
