Scaling Up and Replication Of Rural Energy Efficiency, Livelihood Options To Empower Poor Rural Women In Gadsa And Pahanala Area
Goal of the project:
To diversify rural livelihood options and choices for poor rural mountain communities and to promote conservation practices
Project outputs:
? Expansion of existing groups? membership base in Gadsa and formation of new groups in Pahnala villages
? Bringing about value addition and diversified economic activities for enhancing income levels for the poor hill communities of additional 50 villages
? Expanding user base of energy-efficient and drudgery-reducing devices
? Reduction in dependence on forest resources
? Effective participation in decision making processes (including sharing cost) at household as well as community level
? Propagation of threatened species, medicinal plants, aromatics, and wild fruit tree nursery into new areas

Notable Community Participation
The project seeks to adopt a path of development through women empowerment through enhancing productivity. The subordination of women can only be mitigated through organized efforts at the grass root level. WS & CGs form the core of all activities and this is expected to spearhead the movement towards autonomy in the long run. The awareness raising and organization building activities are to be achieved through a series of regular interaction strategies.

Women SHGs were formed and strengthened to ensure sustainability of the project.
