The project aims at reducing the use of chemical fertilizers by producing manure from domestic waste. The community where waste are collected will be trained on waste sorting at source while the association members will be trained on how to produce a good manure. An expert has been hired to monitor the compost quality and test it in laboratories. It is expected that the manure will be sold at many places, including supermarkets. Lessons learned will be shared with other compost makers and the Rwanda Bureau of Standardsa s no standards have been devolopped so far regarding compost quality. The idea is to convince farmers that they can trust rwandan compost and reduce the use of chemicals.
