Introduction of power saving up lamps in inhabited and subsidiary premises of the KAZ NTU hostel
Many structures in Almaty, which is considered as megalopolis, still use conventional incandescent light bulbs instead of energy saving lamps. Student hostels are not exceptions in this case. Power consumption is very high. Monthly costs for electricity are too high for ordinary students and take big part of students? burse. It could be ok, but issue is also in big inputs in climate changes, which touches Almaty and are much.

Project aim:
Demonstrate possibilities for decreasing electric energy use in student?s hostel premises due to usage of energy saving lumps.

Project tasks:
- Replacement of conventional incandescent light bulbs with energy saving lamps.
- Information campaign on climate change and reduce of the consumption of electrical energy.

Project results:
- Installed energy-saving equipment in the amount of 234 energy-saving bulbs in a student hostel of KazNTU.
- Information campaign to students of KazNTU.
- Conducted training and instruction on energy saving equipment manual,
- Obtained a significant decrease in electricity consumption and cost savings.
- Improved living conditions of 585 students in a hostel.
- The operation time of the bulbs increased in 8 times.
- As a result - project savings are directed at the improvement of lighting of other buildings of KazNTU and its dormitories.
- Reducing of electricity use.
- Reducing of the electricity cost of the university by 80%

Informational campaign among KazNTU students and administration helped in increasing people?s attention to energy efficiency issues.
Policy Impact
No policy impact on city or state level, but touchin student's community have to be mentioned, that student learned manage their hostel issues and implemented resources (energy) management system on local level themselves.
