The Onyaanya community will participate in training on soil management, conservation tillage, crop rotation , vegetable and dry land crop production , drip irrigation , natural pest control and entrprenuership thus increasing knowledge and skills leading to increase production of food and sustainable farming techniques.

The project is community driven with the support of a local/ regional task team. Through entreprenuership training and developing a plan the participants will generate profits from surplus and also re-invest in the vegetable and dry land crop production. The soil improvement methods such as composting and crop rotation can be replicated by all constituency members at a very low cost on their subsitence small holds. Conservation tillage can replace conventional methods at each homestead to the same cost as ploughing. Once the community model is succesful it could be replicated by other groups of the Onyaanya constituency and financed by low loans from micro banks or Agri bank (collateral would be the knowledge of a successful model and thesupport and the mentorship of the task team).

The project will create awareness and provide global environmental benefits in two GEF focal areas , climate change mitigation( through conservation tillage) and combating land degradation through soil iimprovement interventions.
