Introduction to soil improvement techniques
The goal of the project is to start up local sustainable vegetable production and improve the profitability and sustainability of farming as a practice by smallholder producers by introducing soil improvements techniques such as composting and green manure, conservation tillage, and drip irrigation from flood water dams on a two hector plot to start with. The plot would include 1 ha vegetables and 1 ha dry land crops.
The project is located in the Onyaanya constituency, 35 km outh of Ondangwa , in the Oshikoto region.

Gender Focus
30 women (out of many are youth) will receive training in vegetable and dry land crop production.
Notable Community Participation
Members from the Onyaanya constituency approached the Councilor's oofice and traditional authority with request for land close to a dam whre planned starting agricultural production. Through hearing about the composting and micro drip irrigation pilot project they requested a meeting with CES. Together all concerned parties worked out a project implementation plan for maximum impact and success.
