Promotion of Solar Energy in Coastal Taluka Jati District Thatta
Project objectives:
? To promote alternate lighting solutions to the fishermen community of Taulka Jati.
? Mobilization, awareness and capacity building of target communities about usefulness and household applications of solar energy.
Activities to be carried out under project:
? Selection of the poor of the poorest beneficiaries in Taluka Jati
? Procurement of 200 solar lanterns
? Procurement of 205 solar torch to be given to the poor fishermen boat owners
? Procurement and installation of 4 units of solar street lights 0f 36 watts with LED lights
? Mobilizing and sensitizing the selected beneficiaries for the best use of the solar equipments provided to them as eco friendly asset.
? Project inauguration ceremony
? Organize distribution ceremony of Solar lanterns, Solar torch to the identified beneficiaries.
? Organize inauguration ceremony of the project.
? Beneficiaries? selection from the target area with the beneficiaries? selection parameters developed to benefit most deprived fishermen.
? Organizing awareness session, meetings with the community to sensitize them towards sustainable use of energy
? Coordination and partnership with Village Friends Organization Islamabad
? 5 Eco friendly CBOs will be formed and strengthen in the target area.
? Printing informative and communication material and installation of signboards
? Hiring project staff.
? Establishing Project Office at Taulka Jati
? Purchasing furniture and fixtures
? Reporting and monitoring
? Final evaluation of the project

Expected Output
? Alternate energy is promoted in the targeted area
? Community is fully aware and sensitized towards eco-friendly alternate energy products by the best utilization of solar lights.
? Replication possibilities for nearby areas through people to people contact and wider awareness and adoption of environmental friendly energy systems.
? Reduced household expenditures incurred on the lighting
? Creating demand for environmental friendly energy in the country;
? 400 families have complete access to safe solar-run-lantern, torch and street light.
? 5 eco friendly CBOs established and become self sustained to work for natural resources management in the target area.
