Best Practical model of sun solar energy production in Northern Black sea coastal area
Justification
Currently the constraints against the large scale installations of photovoltaic systems are at low level in Bulgaria. The photovoltaic have a little share in the energy production due to difficulties in determination of the pay-back period of the installation in general. There are no data available about which PV system type applies at optimal level in the region.
The main parameters of the photovoltaic system which describe its efficiency are the output power Wp i.e. the peak-power which illustrates the standard maximal power - sun-radiation - 1000 W/m2, temperature of photovoltaic cells 25°? and air mass coefficient AM 1,5.
However the real conditions in the Northern Black Sea region are different from the standard ones and therefore it is the idea of the project team to make experimental investigation of the different types photovoltaic systems and their output power in real conditions.
Location
The project activities shall be carried out in the North East Region of Bulgaria, Municipality of Varna.
Project Target Groups
The target groups are the students from Varna Free Univercity, Technical University in Varna and the Naval Academy, Varna together with engineers, local authority representatives and investors.
Goal and expected impacts
The overall goal is to reduce the carbon emissions through demonstration of the effectiveness of the sun energy produced by photovoltaic.
A survey on the power characteristics of most popular photovoltaic panels along with the local Black Sea weather conditions will be made within the project. There is a tendency of reducing the prices of the panels; therefore the project shall be implemented at present in order to demonstrate the most effective systems in Bulgarian conditions.
Currently there are trainings on RES however guidebooks of photovoltaic for professionals are not developed in practice. Moreover, only specific and qualified experts can develop such technical projects. The production and publication of a Manual is to be one of the project deliverables.
Objectives and expected results
The goal of project proposal is to stimulate the use of solar energy on North Black Sea coast by improve capacity and knowledge of local experts and community and initiation activities on national and local level to overcome barriers for photovoltaic. Under project activities we will investigate power characteristic of real photovoltaic system and determinate the most suitable photovoltaic module for local climate conditions.
Another important point is that we will prepare photovoltaic guideline for installers and engineers.
Major activities
Module 1 ?Management and dissemination? Duration: ?18mounts
Activities under module 1 comprise the formation of creative management and technical system. The dissemination of results among the stakeholders and general public will be guaranteed by the transparency and strict accounting.
Module 2 ?Use of sun power - Pilot practice? Duration: - 18 mounts
The activities include the design, construction and investigation of a demonstration photovoltaic system. The most effective combination (types of panels and design of connect) according to local whether conditions will be determined.
Module 3?Information and training campaign? Duration: - 12 mounts
The activities are targeted to the dissemination and distribution of information to the stakeholders (local and regional authorities, engineers and students about photovoltaic systems). A manual for professional photovoltaic projects will be developed and published.
Partnership with GEF SGP proposals/projects
The goals of project proposal added value to this already adopted projects under PMP GEF ? ?Demonstration of the opportunities for utilization of photovoltaic technologies in urban areas, via the construction of Demonstrative Photovoltaic Installation in the area of Bourgas? and ?Demonstration of the opportunities for utilization of photovoltaic technologies in urban areas, via the construction of DPI (demonstrative photovoltaic installation) in Bourgas? implemented by Second Chance Association and ?ssociation ?Alternative Energie?. The project team will keep good relation with the above organization especially to promote sun energy.
Sustainability
It is foreseen the pilot demonstration photovoltaic system to produce eco energy. The ecological energy itself is purchased by the local electricity company for 718 lv/MWh. According preliminarily calculations approximately 10 MWh, which is equal to 7180 lv annually will be produced. The manual for professional photovoltaic project will serve the students and engineers working in the field of RES utilization.
