Kastoba Lake of Bawean Island Conservation Strategy : Building Community Active Participation in Sustainable and Integrated Conservation Effort to Protect Kastoba Lake As Water Catchment’s Area and Wildlife Habitat
Ecological Threat :
1. The forest surrounding Kastoba Lake is still having a good quality. However, this area is facing threat and pressure that can disturb and damage the bio-ecological condition of the area. This environmental issue was triggered by human factor, such as felling activities, illegal logging, etc by irresponsible actors. The impact of such illegal activities can be seen from the destruction of wildlife habitat within the forest surrounding Kastoba Lake. This should be treat as an alarm for community to immediately save and protect the Kastoba Lake, considering that the forest area of Payungpayung and Danau Kastoba forest is a genuine habitat for endemic species, Bawean Deer.
2. The impact of Felling and illegal logging activities within Payung-Payung Mountain Natural Reserce and Danau Kastoba forest can also threatening the existence of Kastoba Lake. In wet season, landslide that goes to Danau Kastuba can muddy the water and eventually will trigger the trivialization of Kastoba Lake. In the future, trivialization of Kastoba Lake will damage the biodiversity of Kastoba Lake itself.
3. Eco-tourism in Kastoba Lake area that is not well-managed will also contribute negative impact to bio-ecological condition of the area. Public facilities to support eco-tourism, such as public toilet, trash bin, visitor board sign, are not well-maintained by the management. In the future, this condition will turn into water pollution?.
