Community-Based Domestic Liquid Waste Processing to Revitalize Environmentally-Friendly Farming
Ecological Threat :
Around 85 % of Sukatani and Ciherang community lived from farm productivity, such as vegetables (carrot and spring onion). Farmers in Sukatani and Ciherang village use intercropping method to improve some vegetables productivity, such as broccoli, radish, kalian, Chinese cabbage, potato and other Jakarta?s highly-demand vegetables. Cow, sheep, and rabbit are also breed by the community. However, from 85% of Sukatani and Ciherang community, 40% are smallholders who owned only small size of land, less than 0.25 hectares. Most of the farmers grow their vegetables using chemical pesticides which threaten the area. Other ecological threat comes from the establishment of villas at the top of water drainage area, decrease water debits caused by eco-tourism activities, land pollution, and vandalism by domestic visitors.
Project Development Goal:
Planning program to help Sukatani and Ciherang communities to be part of Mt. Gede Pangrango National Park without turning them as a burden and pressing the ecological functions of the national park.
Project Development Objective:
1. Established environmentally-based farming and ranch community
2. Utilized liquid waste and process the waste into bio-energy
3. Increased organic farming productivity
4. Preserved the traditional wisdom
5. Increased community knowledge in environmentally-friendly farming method
6. Existed environment educational-based natural tourism management
Expected Outputs:
1. Ecological improved of buffer zone of Mt. Gede Pangrango National Park
2. Turned the river basin located in Sukatani and Ciherang Village into free of dometic liquid pollutant and chemical fertilizer
3. Preserved and applied community?s traditional wisdom
Activities to be Conducted:
1. Conducting Focus Group Discussion with community leaders, officials from BKSDA, and local community;
2. Conducting socialisation and meeting on structuring traditional wisdom-based cattle waste management through Village Meeting
3. Planning on community-based water management
4. Planning on environment educational-based tourism management
5. Planning on cattle and domestic liquid waste management
6. Planning on environmentally-friendly medicinal plant management in order to develop organic farming
7. Planning on endemic reforestation
8. Palnning on organizing event/annual event ?Wawar Susur Tanah? and exploration of traditional art that supports environment conservation
Project Participants and/or beneficiaries:
