Combating Land Degradation and poverty reduction in Mara resettlement farm
The project aims to combat land degradation and reduce poverty . Mara (a resettlement farm in the south) degraded soils is to be restored through soil rehabilitation processes and seed bank building. Prosopis species invasion will be controlled through harvesting and use the wood for charcoal making or as firewood. As the community is stricken by poverty and through the existing good water supply they could reduce e poverty by starting a Lucerne project to support their livestock and vegetable gardening to ensure sustainable food security.
