Integrated coastal biodiversity and natural resources management project
The aim of the project was to conserve biodiversity in the nearby Nuimi National park which is a trans-boundary protected area covering the northern park of The Gambia and parts of Senegal. The park experiences a lot of encroachment from the neighbouring communities. The grantee worked closely with The departments of Parks and Wildlife Management, Agriculture and Forestry to implement sustainable livelihood activities which would reduce the pressures on the park and thus conserve its rich biodiversity.
