PROGRES - a project on local management of emissions reduction
The project aims to enhance the involvement of local communities in initiatives that reduce GHG emissions and raise awareness of local actors on energy efficiency and renewable energy sources in 12 localities throughout Romania. Activities will include implementing four demonstrative projects on energy efficiency and renewable energy sources under the guidance of local energy planning committees, as well as education on climate change and energy-related issues in 16 schools based on the SPARE project instruments.

20 locals are members of the Local Committee for Energy Planning; 200 persons participate in the public debates, 1,000 students participate in the education activities; 3,100 persons are involved in information activities.
Policy Influence
As Romania is promoting almost exclusively centralized energy production and management, the implemented project promotes the use of alternative energy resources for remote communities. Influence on local policy, in order to allocate funds for sustainable energy management.
