a project that aims to evaluate and adopt mitigation measures on the problem faced in Maputo Bay due to water pollution caused by used oils from service stations and Maputo harbor, and other detritus that simultaneously flow along swage drainage systems; the area has a mouth open on its northeastern side to the Indian Ocean, and is remarkable for occurrence of dugongs, dolphins, sea turtles, mangroves, and a variety of fish species of biodiversity and commercial value; the region upholds a large fishing industry carried out by local communities and semi-industrial entrepreneurs; leisure and watersports activities are also carried out along the shore and within the bay.
