project that aims to support local communities in protecting the banks of Sábie River in order to avoid soil erosion, land degradation, and loss of biodiversity while promoting environmental awareness among local communities; this area of environmental significance is along the Lebombo mountain range and within the northwest extreme of the Maputaland Centre of Endemism, and faces environmental degradation caused by human activities like bushfires, grazing, subsistence farming, harvest of forest resources, fishing and establishment of new settlements; diversified livelihood subsistence activities will reduce pressure over natural resources.
