Establishing sustainable solar water heating and lighting systems at CCBRT, Moshi
Objectives
1) To establish sustainable solar water heating and electricity backup system at CCBRT Moshi ?House of Hope? to enable sustainable, clean electricity supply
2) To decrease the use of fire wood / charcoal in the kitchen by utilizing alternative energy sources
3) Improve the knowledge of CCBRT clients on environmental conservation and sustainable use of natural resources
Project Activities:
Objective 1
1.1 Purchase and installation of a solar backup system for the rehabilitation department, hostel and kitchen, as well as administrative block
1.2 Purchase and installation of a solar water heating system for the hostel
Objective 2
2.1 Purchase of a supply of briquettes, made of saw dust
Objective 3
3.1 Training of 1000 parents of the patients/clients in awareness about the use of solar energy for generating electricity and heating water.
3.2 Training of 1000 parents of the patients/clients about the problem concerning environmental protection, trees cutting, use of charcoal and its impact. This will need training on alternative energy such as use of briquettes which is available in Moshi.
