Consolidation on the use of Biogas and Solar Project, Moshi
CONTEXT:
Biogas and Solar project is implemented by St. James Seminary since 2007. The project received funds from COMPACT Project. The project was not complete due to underestimation of materials required for construction of the biodigester, inflation and rise in price of cement. The project completed successfully the installation of biogas component. The installation of solar water heaters has not been implemented. St. James Seminary will contribute by meeting cost of fitting the solar equipments. The deviation of the previous proposed budget as compare to the requested amount is attached to the project proposal.
PROJECT PRIMARY OBJECTIVE:
To complete solar and biogas project which contributes in reducing the amount of fuel wood in cooking and boiling water for bathing for 200 students at St. James Seminary.
PROJECT ACTIVITIES:
? Purchase and fitting of 10 Solar collectors
? Purchase and fitting of 2 hot water tanks
? Transporting of the materials to the Site
? Installation of the equipments
PROJECT BENEFITS:
? The project will serve as a demonstration on the use of solar energy to other institutions
? The project will contribute in reducing fuel wood foe heating water for bathing hence conserve the forest and reduce the rate of tree cutting
